Sumter County Primary students in Ms. Laura Williams’ and Ms. Makayla Cobb’s Pre-K class have been studying dinosaurs. They had fun making their own dinosaur fossils in class.

Sumter County Primary School recently took part in a community service project. Students brought in pet items for the Sumter Humane Society. We had over 200 items donated. A group of students then loaded the items and delivered them to the shelter.

Georgia Southwestern State University basketball teams recently visited Sumter County Primary School and read to the first grade students. The athletes read books, answered questions, and gave out stickers while on campus.

Pre-K students at Sumter County Primary School in Mrs. Hope Bateman and Ms. Chantel Greene's class enjoyed Black History Week by studying famous Black inventors. One of the days, the class focused on Garrett Morgan who improved and invented the first 3-way traffic light. Students made a traffic light out of graham crackers and M&Ms. They also made stop lights and talked about the importance of Garrett Morgan and the traffic light.

To culminate Black History Week at Sumter County Primary School, Mrs. Archina McRae's first grade class dressed as their favorite African American hero including little Ruby Bridges, Dr. King, and Malcolm X.
